INTERPOL Operation LIBERTERRA 2 – Regional Debriefing for Europe

The regional debriefing for Operation LIBERTERRA 2 was successfully concluded in Belgrade, co-organized by the Serbian SEPCA Presidency, INTERPOL, and the EU4FAST WB Project.

The event focused on the pivotal role of the Operational Coordination Unit (OCU) in Skopje, North Macedonia, and the importance of cross-border cooperation to dismantle transnational criminal networks.

Presentations from INTERPOL, UNODC, and national law enforcement officials highlighted key strategies from the operation, including HOT SPOT operations and the I-FORCE project. Participating countries shared valuable insights on their operational experiences, challenges faced, and best practices in tackling human trafficking and migrant smuggling.

EU4FAST WB Project presented its activities, outlining its critical support to the Operational Coordination Unit (OCU) in Skopje, North Macedonia, which facilitated coordination and operational efforts during the operation.

Operation LIBERTERRA 2 was INTERPOL’s largest-ever global operation against human trafficking and migrant smuggling, conducted across 116 countries and territories. The operation, held from 29 September to 4 October, resulted in 2,517 arrests, 850 of which were specifically on human trafficking or migrant smuggling charges.
