SEPCA Cybercrime Network Workshop 2024

SEPCA Cybercrime Network Workshop 2024

The Criminal Intelligence Service of Austria (BK) together with the Ministry of Interior of Republic of Serbia, during its SEPCA Presidency in Office, organized the SEPCA Cybercrime Network Workshop that was held in Vienna on March 7th, 2024.

The event was fully funded by the BK through the Internal Security Fund 2021-2027 and brought together the experts from this Network along with the Head of the Cybercrime Unit from each SEPCA member state.

The aim of the Workshop was to highlight the new threats, modus operandi and practices in Cybercrime that affected the SEPCA region and Austria during last year, as well as to share best experiences and practices on darknet and cryptocurrency.

Another topic discussed was online fraud, a growing trend worldwide driven by the increase in the number of people who make Internet purchases and transactions. Also, during the Workshop, experts agreed that there was identified an increased number of cases of criminal groups involved in cybercrime activities during 2023, in SEPCA region and Austria.

Moreover, the Workshop was a great opportunity to exchange best practices and share information and intelligence among the cybercrime experts in order to fight against all types of cybercrime threats that are mutual for the SEPCA region and to enhance security for all citizens in the South East Europe.

The BK remains SEPCA’s strategic partner that contributes to enhance SEPCA’s capacities in order to secure the region through mutual expertise and support.
