Workshop “SEPCA Threat Assessment: New Trends and Update Process”

On May 23, 2024, in Belgrade, the Workshop titled “SEPCA Threat Assessment: New Trends and Update Process” convened during the Presidency of the Republic of Serbia, co-hosted and financially supported by the EU initiative to Strengthen the Fight Against Migrant Smuggling and Trafficking in Human Beings in the Western Balkans (EU4FAST WB Project).

The gathering assembled analysts from SEPCA members, who not only delineated emerging crime trends affecting each SEPCA member but also exchanged invaluable insights and best practices. Moreover, analysts provided comprehensive updates on the current security landscape within each SEPCA member. A pivotal outcome of the workshop was the consensus reached on a crafted timeline and delineation of responsibilities for the drafting and preparation phases of the SEPCA Threat Assessment. It was decided that the draft SEPCA Threat Assessment will undergo finalization during the workshop in September and subsequently be formally adopted at the SEPCA General Assembly in December.

Furthermore, analysts from SEPCA members gained profound insights into the methodology and timeline pertinent to the ongoing preparations of the Europol SOCTA.
